My name is Dave Martin, and I have been a painting contractor in Seattle for about 20 years. I pride myself on my work and am excited to share my knowledge to help you attain a beautiful paint job.
As you go through the information on this site, there are four essential things to keep in mind to help you achieve a truly professional looking paint job:
-
First, for a professional looking finish, and if your budget allows for it, purchasing quality paint and materials make all the difference. I will walk you through the selection and purchase of all your paint and material needs.
-
Second, cover everything up before you start your project. Protect your floors, hardware, hinges, doorknobs, etc. from paint.
-
Third, if you have existing paint on your floor, door knobs, hinges, window locks, etc., I will show you how to remove it. When it comes to a professional looking paint job, these details make all the difference.
-
Finally, and most importantly, create clean, straight, cut in lines (see photo below (click photo to enlarge)). The cut in lines are where the ceiling meets the walls and where the trim meets the walls. You can have the most beautiful paint job in the world, but if the lines aren’t clean and straight, it will ruin everything. I will show you all the secrets to make your lines look crisp and clean.
This site started in written form, but I am adding video companion pieces all the time, so make sure to check back in often!
